What Certified Means

Certified translators have been tested by, and are members of, a provincial or federal translation association in Canada. Depending on the document, you may or may not need a certified translator. Certified translators are often needed for the following documentation:

• Passport stamps, visas, permits
• Marriage/birth certificates
• Driver's licenses
• School certificates, transcripts
• National identity cards
• Any document to be used in court
• Documents required to be translated for permanent residence cards and citizenship applications
